Buying gemstones
in Bangkok.
Bangkok is where the world’s coloured stone changes hands. Rough arrives from Africa, Asia and South America to be cut, treated and traded in a few streets around Silom Road, and the dealers who sit there supply jewellers on every continent.
It is the best market on earth for coloured stone and the hardest to buy in from the outside. Almost nothing is listed. Prices move with who is asking. The parcels that matter are shown to people the trade already knows — which is the entire problem GemBridge exists to solve.

Every dealer in the list below is one we have met and traded with. Counts are from GemBridge’s own dealer records, September 2026, and a dealer can appear against more than one stone.

How it works
How to buy a Bangkok stone from anywhere.
- 01Say what you need in one messageSpecies, size, colour, treatment status, quantity. If you need a matched suite rather than a single stone, say so — it changes who we ask.
- 02We put it to the dealers who carry itNot a broadcast. We go to the dealers in our network whose speciality is your material, because a sapphire house cannot help you with paraiba.
- 03We look at the stones ourselvesA GIA Graduate Gemologist examines what comes back and tells you what it actually is, including the options we would not buy.
- 04You choose from a shortlist, not a firehosePhotos, video and our read on each parcel — colour, cut, treatment, whether the price is sane for the quality.
- 05We introduce you to the dealerName, WhatsApp number, office address. You deal with them directly from there. No markup, no commission on the stone.
- 06Optionally, we complete it for youIf you would rather not handle a Bangkok purchase remotely, our purchaser service inspects, settles and ships for a fee quoted upfront.
Questions
Buying in Bangkok, answered.
- How do I buy gemstones in Bangkok without flying there?
- Send one WhatsApp message describing the stone. GemBridge puts the request to the Bangkok dealers who specialise in that material, examines the options in person as gemologists, sends you a shortlist with photos, video and our professional read, then introduces you directly to the dealer who has your stone. You buy from them at their own price.
- Where is the gem district in Bangkok?
- Around Silom Road in the Bang Rak district. The Jewelry Trade Center on Silom is the trade’s main building, and dealer offices spread through the surrounding streets — Mahaesak, Suriyawong and the sois off Silom.
- Does GemBridge mark up the stones?
- No. GemBridge takes no markup and no commission on a stone. You are introduced to the dealer and pay the dealer’s own price. The optional purchaser service — where we inspect, buy and ship on your behalf — is a separate fee, quoted in full before anything happens.
- How many dealers does GemBridge work with in Bangkok?
- 27 active dealers as of September 2026, weighted towards sapphire, ruby and emerald, with dealers covering tourmaline, spinel, aquamarine, paraiba tourmaline, tsavorite, tanzanite, zircon and pearls. Six of them keep offices inside the Jewelry Trade Center, on floors from B1 to the 47th.
- Can GemBridge find matched parcels, not just single stones?
- Yes, and it is a large part of what we do for jewellery manufacturers. Matching a suite on colour and tone across a parcel is harder than finding one good stone, so it takes longer and the answer is sometimes that the market cannot do it — which we will tell you plainly rather than stringing you along.
- Is it safe to buy gemstones in Bangkok remotely?
- The risk in any gem purchase is the same everywhere: not knowing what you are actually buying. That is what we remove — a gemologist looks at the stone before you commit, tells you its treatment status, and you get a lab report on anything at value before money moves.
- What is the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair?
- A trade fair held in Bangkok where dealers from Thailand and abroad exhibit for a few days. It is useful for meeting dealers at speed, but the stones on a fair booth are only the stones a dealer chose to carry that week — the deeper stock stays in the office safe.
